Charles Sidney Burwell papers, 1924-1967 (inclusive).

Consists of Burwell's office files, 1926-1949, including correspondence, memoranda, reports, and minutes, documenting his administrative responsibilities at the Harvard Medical School and other involvement with medical societies, Boston hospitals, publishers, and medical colleagues and students. Some of the correspondence pertains to Peiping Union Medical College, Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine and Boston Medical Library. Other material includes drafts of Burwell's speeches, patient notes, scrapbooks, and notebooks containing material for classes he taught at the Harvard Medical School, manuscripts of writings, photographs, notes on various diseases, and reprints by Burwell and others. Also Burwell's papers, 1940-1945, as a member of the Federal Security Agency's Subcommittee on Medical Education, World War II. Burwell's unpublished manuscript, correspondence, and research notes for A History of Harvard Medicine, 1764-1964, are included in the collection.
